제목 | A study on characteristics of the composite Nafion membrane for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells |
초록 | In this study, characteristics of the composite membrane such as a Zeolite/Nafion composite membrane are investigated by measuring ion conductivity, methanol permeability, AC impedance and cell performance to reduce the crossover of methanol through the polymer electrolyte membrane at direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC). The methanol crossover in the DMFC can be reduced by casting a thin film containing the mixture of Zeolite and Nafion solution. The thin film-composite membrane exhibits low methanol crossover and the membrane conductance can be improved by the sulfonation treatment. Also, Mechanical strength of the membrane can be enhanced subsequent steps of chemical cross-linkage. This membrane demonstrates a good selectivity of water over methanol and is suitable for the DMFC application. Acknowledgements This work was supported by Korea Research Foundation Grant.
