A Novel Biomimetic CO2 sequestration System Using the Enzyme |
초록 |
Biomaterials are a reflection of evolutionary survival strategies, and an understanding of their structure and function may well provide basic insights into their roles and activities, and may lead to novel applications. As bivalve shells are composed mainly of calcium carbonate, they provide a good model for the study of CO2 sequestration because the shell is derived from the calcium ions and CO2 in seawater.Enzyme-mediated CO2 mineralization is a relatively novel approach to binding CO2 in a solid form. The present study represents the first assessment of the potential of Hemocyte in CO2 sequestration. The objective of the present study was to investigate an environmentally friendly biomimetic approach to CO2 sequestration, based on the activities of carbonic anhydrase and Hemocyte. |
