제목 | Weather and Abrasion Resistance of Nano-structured Sol-Gel Coatings with Modified Hydroxyphenyltriazine for Transparent Plastics |
초록 | Polycarbonate(PC) is widely used in applications when high impact resistance and transparency are required. Exposure of PC to UV light leads to surface degradation affecting the properties of the polymer, particularly impact strength, clarity(yellowing) and scratching. Important UV stabilizers are benzophenones, benzotriazoles, hydroxyphenyltriazines(HPT) and hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS). HPTs are the latest development in this field. In numerous applications, they show considerable superiority over the other light stabilizer classes. Using pure HPT seems to be the chalking, migration and cracking, due to the incompatibility with the sol-gel network. Therefore, coating agents require modified HPT to form chemical bonding with themselves. In this study, a new modified HPT was synthesized from silane coupling agent and HPT. The new modified HPT was characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR. And, Coating agents were prepared via the sol-gel process using tetraorthosilicate, colloidal silica, and modified HPT. Their UV-stabilization for protecting PC against photodegradation was estimated by UV/VIS spectrometer, spectrophotometer and QUV tester. Abrasion-resistance was measured by means of taber type abrader. UV-stabilization of modified HPT was better than that of HPT. |
