Hydrogels of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) copolymerized with acrylic acid [P(NIPAAm-co-AA)] were prepared with crosslinking degree of 2, 4 and 7% using (N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide) as a cross-linking agent. The characteristics of hydrogels were investigated by swelling experiment, Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). DSC was used for the quantitative determination of the amounts of free and bound water. Hydrogels exhibited the maximum swelling ratio up to 106 times at 25℃. And, the hydrogels showed the different swelling ratio in various pHs and temperatures. The swelling of hydrogels strongly depended on the composition of the copolymers and also on pH and temperature. The different degree of swelling of hydorgels at various pHs and temperatures showed that all copolymers got very good stimuli-responsive properties. |
