Energy Transfer from Excitations of PVK to a Polyfluorene |
초록 |
Soluble polyfluorene with alkyl groups attached on position 9 of a fluorene unit is known to display a strong excimeric emission on photoexcitation of the polymer film at the absorption maximum of 390 nm. A polyfluorene(PF4CY) with two n-butylcyclohexane groups attached at position 9 of the fluorene unit was synthesized by employing a Yamamoto reaction. PF4CY exhibits strong photoluminescence(PL) emission with the emission peak at 425 nm and distinctive vibronic progression but substantial reduction in the excimeric emission intensity at 525 nm. The polymer is blended with polyvinylcarbazole(PVK), of which PL spectrum has a poor overlap with the absorption spectrum of PF4CY, in order to reduce the excimeric PL intensity at 525 nm and at the same time to enhance the singlet PL intensity of PF4CY. A blend with a PF4CY concentration of 10 % displays a strong PL emission intensity on photoexcitation at either 290 or 340 nm. A low temperature PL study of the blend in a cryogenic chamber proves that the energy transfer in the system takes place mainly between the excimers of PVK generated by the partially eclipsed dimeric states of two carbazole units and the fluorophores of PF4CY. |
