Polymeric micelle was produced using poly (2-hydroxyethyl acrylate-co-tetradecyl acrylate) (poly(HEA-co-TDA)). The amphiphilic polymers, poly(HEA-co-TDA) having different HEA/TDA contents (100/5.12, 100/4.34, 100/3.16, 100/2.38, 100/0 (mol/mol)) were produced by a free radical polymerization and they were confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy. Optical density difference of the polymer solution (2% (w/v)) was investigated from 20°C to 50°C and revealed lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior. The interfacial tension of the polymers were determined by gauging the air/water interfacial tension of the polymer solution using a ring method. After adding 2-Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD), TDA was captured inside the cavity of HP-β-CD and therefore, LCST had been changed during the temperature change. There were not much influence in the interfacial tension of the polymers when adding HP-β-CD. |
