Preparation of Silica Nanocomposites and the Rheological properties |

In this study, the rheological and physical properties of the nanocomposites were improved by adding nano-size particles, such as silica, nanoclay. Styrene, Butyl Acrylate (BA) and Methacrylic acid (MAA) were copolymerized by soap-free emulsion polymerization using a macromonomer in an aqueous media. The polymerization was carried out using semi-batch emulsion polymerization. Also, a nanocomposites was prepared by aggregation with silica particles. The rheological properties were measured by using Advanced Rheometric Expansion System (ARES). It was found that the rheological properties were significantly improved by adding the nano-sized particles. The modulus and the stress relaxation were also examined as a function of frequency and temperature. |
