Study on synthesis of high molecular weight Poly(m-phenylene terephthal amide)film |

Aromatic polyamide polymer were prepared from aromatic diamine monomer and terephthaloyl chloride by the low temperature solution polycondensation in N ,N-dimethyl acetamide, and then the optimum condition of polymerization was investigated. Molecular structure of synthesized monomers and polymers were identified by means of IR, H1 NMR and elementary analysis. According to the DSC, TGA thermograms, the polymers had good thermal stability with the initial decomposition temperature of above 430℃. In the X-ray diffraction patterns, the angles of major diffraction intensities were similar to those of wholly aromatic polyamide such as polyamide had high degree of crystallinity. Also the polymers could not be dissolved in tertiary amide solvents alone but well dissolved in tertiary amide solvents containing the alkali metal salts. |
