Modified sol-hydrothermal preparation of TiO2 nanoparticles from metatitan acid |

TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by the hydrolysis and condensation of an economic metatitan acid in a mixed solvent of several alcohol and water. As-prepared powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscope (FT-IR), Electron microscope (EM) etc. Methylene blue (MB) is a representive of a class of dyes resistant to biodegradation. To examine the photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared TiO2, the photodegradation of MB has been investigated in aqueous heterogeneous suspensions. The results showed that the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 powders prepared in the mixed solutions with the volume ratio of R-OH/H2O = 0.5 exceeded that of AA (Aldrich anatase), ST-01, ST-21 and ST-31. |
