In this study, we fabricated thick Nafion-based IPMC actuator by ‘heat-compression method’, as new scale-up processing of ion-exchanged membrane. And we investigated the IPMC actuating system with a biomimetic function, and developed the high-performance IPMC as artificial muscles. We observed that the actuation capability of the prepared actuator has a tendency to significantly agree with the equivalent beam theory. This sufficient improvement of the actuation performance will be leading to a wide applicability into biomimetic device such asartificial muscles and soft actuator. |
