Polylactic acid (PLA) is highly versatile, biodegradable, aliphatic polyester derived from 100% renewable resources such as corn and sugar beets. PLA has received considerable attention as a promising material suitable for replacing petroleum-based polymers. However, the brittleness and low heat resistance are big drawback for its wide application. In this study, to overcome drawbacks of PLA, PLA was blended with polycarbonate (PC). Blends of PLA and PC were prepared various weight-compositions using twin-screw extruder. Mechanical and morphological properties of blends were investigated by Izod impact tester, UTM and SEM.
