A series of novel Zn(II)-porphyrin dyes containing various electron-donating group and a cyanoacrylic acid moiety as the electron acceptor which are linked by π-conjugated bridge system such as phenylene moiety, was developed for use in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Their chemical structures were characterized by 1H-NMR, FT-IR, UV-vis absorption, and FAB-mass spectroscopies. Their electrochemical properties were also studied by cyclic voltammetric measurement. Novel Zn(II)-porphyrin dyes with co-absorbents developed by our group have been used to fabricate dye-sensitized solar cells as dye sensitizers, exhibiting the maximum power conversion efficiency. Here, their synthesis and DSSC performance will be presented. |
