Many organic dyes, based on the donor-(π-spacer)-acceptor (D-π-A) system, exhibiting relatively high dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) performance, have been so far designed and developed. Here, we present an extension of this design, aimed at further expanding the possibility of improving the optical and energetic properties of the sensitizers. The new approach, based on dual channel system, implies the use of two donor and two acceptor and spacer donor. Dual-channel anchorable organic dyes with a diphenylamine unit as electron donor and phenothiazine, carbazole, fluorene, triphenylamine units as space donor were synthesized and used as sensitizers for DSSC. Dual-channel anchorable organic dyes offers improved optical properties and enhanced stability compared to its monobranched analogues. Their chemical structures, absorption spectra, electrochemical, photovoltaic properties, DFT calculation and the cell long-term stability have been extensively investigated. |
