To control molecular packing structure and morphology on the different length scale, the programmed asymmetric molecule (asym-TTF) containing the tetrathiafulvalene was newly synthesized and characterized. On the oriented asym-TTF, a monoclinic unit cell crystal structure is confirmed by the 2D WAXD techniques. Furthermore, the self-assembled ribbons aggregated themselves to form fibrous hierarchical structures in the micrometer length scale with different diameters and their structure morphology is identified by using TEM, AFM, and POM. During the crystallization process, generated unstable surface stresses lead to the scrolled and helical structures. The properly oriented asym-TTF is applied to electrooptical devices and the improved properties is confirmed by utilizing POM and UV.
