Poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL), a semicrystalline biodegradable polymer, belongs to the family of poly α-hydroxy polyesters. Compared with other polyester family members such as poly(lactide), poly(glycolide), and their copolymers, PCL has been less frequently used as a scaffold material, mainly because of its slower degradation rates, although it may be suitable for applications such as long-term drug delivery systems. However, the properties of PCL, including its mechanical properties and the degradation profile, can be tailored to expand its utility by blending or copolymerizing PCL with other polyesters. The goal of this study was to improve the cell affinity of PCL nanofiber by treatment using aqueous sodium hydroxide solution with various concentrations. Also, the structure, biological performances, and properties of PCL nanofiber treated were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, and water contact angle measurement. |
