Synthesis of One-dimensional Tunsten Oxide Nanostructure on the ITO Glass Substrate via a Hydrothermal Process |

Tungsten oxide (h-WO3) has been extensively studied as a promising candidate for electrochromic devices. Due to the unique physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials, nanostructured tungsten oxide (h-WO3) have great potential for improving properties of electrochromic device. Nanostructured h-WO3 has been synthesized by wet chemical methods. In this study, self-assembly of one-dimensional (1D) single-crystalline h-WO3 has been synthesized by a hydrothermal method at 180oC using sodium tungstate with ethylenediaminetetraacetate salt (EDTA) and sodium sulfate. The h-WO3 nanowires were grown on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrate by hydrothermal process. The self-assembled h-WO3 nanowire bundles and layered h-WO3 nanowires were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The highly oriented 1D nanowire bundles have similar diameter of ~100 nm, and their length is 1~2 μm. The nanowire-layered h-WO3 was around 20 nm diameter. In addition, Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy studies were carried out. The different experimental conditions were studied and will be discussed in detail. |
