Microneedlewas recently introduced. Arrays of microneedles have been created to act as a bridge between conventional injections and transdermal patches. The development of more sophisticated drugs has demanded the need for more sophisticated methods to deliver those drugs.Microfabrication technology has been adopted to allow the creation of arrays of needles capable of penetrating the stratum corneum without pain, due to their minute size. Solid microneedles have been demonstrated to increase the permeability of in vitro human skin by three to four orders of magnitude for compounds ranging in size 0.6 nm to 50 nm. |
