For any real life process, system identification and prediction can be done by assuming first order process that includes a time delay. This is sufficient in many cases for designing controllers in industrial applications. But not all processes actually behave in First Order Plus Time Delay (FOPTD) manner. For better understanding of a system's true behavior and a more thorough control, fractional resolution of order can be applied instead of first order or even higher order system identifications. Thus this study introduces fractional order plus time delay model for system identification and system control tuning. The fractional order transfer function is referenced by Ogunnaike and Ray Column where Beta can be represented as real number. The real number Beta is then applied as fractional order which then can be transformed into fractional order model. |
