Self-crosslinking injectable hydrogels based on poly(aspartate) and poly(ethylene glycol) |

Injectable polymer hydrogels have been widely explored for a number of biomedical applications, including drug delivery and tissue engineering. In particular, hydrogels derived from poly(amino acid)s have shown many advantages by expressing degradability and excellent biocompatibility. In this work, we describe a new self-crosslinking injectable hydrogel based on acrylated poly(aspartate) and poly(ethylene glycol) disulfhydryl. No organic solvent, elevated temperature, or harsh pH is required in the formulation of hydrogels or patient administration processes, thereby making it attractive for delivery of fragile therapeutics, such as proteins.
