Poly(lactic acid) (PLA), a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, has recently attracted great interest from industry and academia. For expanding the applications of PLA, the brittleness and low electrical resistivity should be highly improved. In order to enhance the weak physical properties of PLA, we have manufactured PLA/maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene (PLA/PP-g-MA) nanocomposite films containing different multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) contents via melt-compounding/compression and have investigated their structures, morphological features, thermal properties, mechanical properties, and electrical resistivity by using SEM, OM, DSC, TGA, UTM, DMA, and multi-ohmmeter. The influences of MWCNT content and blend ratio on the physical properties of PLA/PP-g-MA/MWCNT nanocomposite films are analyzed by correlating with the structural and morphological features. |
