Thermo-volumetric behavior of amorphous polymer chemically linked by the nano-sized inorganic moeity |
초록 |
One of the main issues for polymer is to reduce its volumetric change upon heating/cooling, in order to achieve dimensional stability in various engineering applications. The coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE), the parameter for the thermal-volumetric change, of the amorphous polymer is generally in the range of 50~70 ppm/℃. This large value of polymeric material frequently causes the serious problem, especially when the polymer is used with inorganic material with the low CTE value of 4~6ppm/℃. In this work, in order to prepare the amorphous polymer with the reduced CTE, polycarbonate is modified by the chemical reaction with the nano-sized inorganic particles. The surface of the inorganic particle was functionalized by the organic group. The CTE, morphology, and mechanical properties of the polymer composites were characterized and the effects of the nano-sized filler on the thermo-volumetric behavior of amorphous polymer were investigated. |
