A glucose biosensor, which was based on glucose oxidase (GOx) immobilized on polypyrrole(PPy)/Prussian blue(PB) modified electrode, was developed. The Prussian blue and polypyrrole layer were prepared on gold electrode by electrochemical method. The enzyme, glucose oxidase was attached to the PPy/PB modified electrode by carbodiimide activation. For the functionalization of the electrode, the carboxylic group was introduced by the addition of pyrrole-α-carboxylic acid, which was covalently coupled with the amine group of the glucose oxidase. The surface morphology of the PB/PPy/PPyCOOH/GOx electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The structural features of the PB/PPy/PPyCOOH/GOx electrode were confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR). Chronoamperometry (CA) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were used to evaluate the performance of biosensor towards glucose. |
