In the present work, nanofibers of cellulose acetate and MMT were prepared using the ultrasonic treatement. The viscosities of the cellulose acetate solutions and cellulose acetate/MMT solutions were determined using a Brookfield digital viscometer at 16 °C. The cellulose acetate(CA)/MMT nanofibers were prepared by facile compounding and electrospinning. MMT was first dispersed in water and then compounded with CA which was dissolved in acetic acid. The composite solutions were electrospun to form CA/MMT nanofibers. The structure, morphology, thermal stability, and crystalline properties of the nanofibers were characterized by fourier transfer infrared (FTIR) spectra, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), respectively The TGA result indicated that the thermal stability was notably improved in the presence of MMT. |
