Several kinds of natural cellulose fibers, such as henequen and kenaf, were treated for use as a catalyst support. For the carbonization of the cellulose fibers, each fiber sample was heated at 500 ~ 1500oC. As the temperature is increased, BET surface area and pore volume is also increased. Then the samples were chemically treated for the manufacture of surface defects. The amount of surface oxide group is increased as the pretreatment time increased, which can be confirmed by our XPS data. Metal nano particles are deposited on pretreated cellulose fibers and the catalytic activity of them for CO2 reforming of CH4 were measured. |
