Design and Preparation of Chelated Fe(III)/Fe(II) Liguid Catalyst for Hydrogen Sulfide Removal |

Liquid desulfurization catalyst formulation utilizing iron chelated complex was designed based on the thermodynamic solubility and the pE-pH diagram models, and new chelating system of Fe(III/II)-C6H8O7-H2O was derived. Through the theoretical consideration, it was found that the simple thermodynamic calculation is very helpful to optimize the H2S removal efficiency, catalyst stability, and catalyst regeneration condition. A combination of optimized influencing factors has resulted in a new chelating formulation consisted of Fe(III)-citrate complex solution with Fe ion concentration of 1.0 ~ 2.5 wt%, pH of 8.0 in phosphate buffer system. The desulfurization performance of Fe (III)/Fe (II) chelating agents was investigated on a simulated sulfur-containing industrial gas composed of H2S and N2 in a gas-lift reactor. Test results have revealed that the proposed iron-based desulfurization solution showed a high sulfur removal efficiency and extended catalyst stability. |
