Aldehydes are recognized as toxic volatile organic compounds and can create several dieses such as headache, nausea, lung cancer, and even death. In this study, the adsorption of acetaldehyde, which is one of Aldehydes, on corn-based activated carbons (CAC-1 and CAC-2) and wood-based activated carbon (WAC) were investigated by using gas chromatograph (GC). Nitrogen adsorption/desorption (77 K) and XPS analysis were conducted for the selected carbon materials to assess the effects of physical and chemical properties of all of ACs on Aldehydes adsorption. Moreover, the acetaldehyde adsorption results were correlated by the Langmuir and Freundlich equation, among two, the Langmuir model was well fitted with the experimental data. In addition, the effect of initial acetaldehyde concentration on acetaldehyde adsorption on all of ACs was evaluated to obtain the kinetic information. |
