As a result of the wide application and utilization of the activated sludge process, excess sludge presents a serious disposal problem. Many efforts have been devoted to reduce the excess sludge. Sludge disposal treatment are quite difficult to reduce water contents. This research was designed to investigate thermal treatment of dewatered sewage sludge. The study involved the laboratory experiments with test condition including high temperature(150~200℃) under more high vapor pressure(10~20Kg/cm2) than saturated vapor pressure(4~15Kg/cm2), and reaction time of 1~5hr. The results of the experiments show that thermal water under pressurization condition enhances the dewaterability and solubilization significantly. The cause of this result attributed to a destruction of the sludge flocs and cell wall by thermal water under high vapor pressure that rise naturally. |
