The hydrophobic nature of conventional photosensitizers(PSs) makes it difficult for PSs to disperse and even causes PSs to aggregate in aqueous physiological environment. In aggregates, the planar structure of PSs maximizes H-aggregation which reduces efficiencies of fluorescence and singlet oxygen generation, namely aggregation caused quenching(ACQ) To address this problem, our group synthesized novel photosensitizers based on boron dipyrromethane(BODIPY) derivatives and confirmed aggregation induced emission enhancement(AIEE) by analyzing data of photophysical properties and dynamic light scattering(DLS). To gain further insights into the results, The optimized structures, electron distributions of all the dyes were calculated, using the density functional theory(DFT) B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level. |
