SO2 sensing properties of SnO2-based sensor promoted with Fe2O3 and TiO2 |

We fabricated a SnO2-based thick film gas sensor promoted with Fe2O3 and TiO2 by screen printing method. The SnO2-based sensor was calcinated at various temperature range of 400-700oC. And we investigated the effect of calcination temperature on the sensor response and recovery properties for detection of <1ppm SO2 at 300oC. The SnO2-based sensor, which calcinated at 400oC and 500oC, has high sensor response and excellent recovery properties. However, when the SnO2-based sensor was calcinated at 600oC and 700oC, the sensor response rapidly decreased and not completely recoverd. As a result the SnO2-based sensor calcinated below 500oC provides an excellent means for detecting SO2 at sub ppb concentrations due to the TiO2 phase and alloy effects. We will discuss that the effects of the change of TiO2 phase and alloy structure on sensor response and recovery properties using SO2 sensing behaviors, XRD, XPS and SEM. |
