Lyocell formed from cellulose was dissolved by N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) hydrated in-situ method. Carbon nanotube (CNT) was functionalized by acid treatment with a mixture of nitric and sulfuric acids forming hydroxyl and carboxylic groups on the surface. Functionalized CNT showed good dispersion in NMMO due to which, electrical conductivity was observed in the composite. Further, the incorporation of magnetite (Fe3O4) nano particle (MNP) in the Lyocell/CNT matrix would make (Lyocell/MNP/CNT) a network like structure which would enhance the electrical conductivity significantly. The composite was characterized with scanning electron microscope (SEM), tensile test, thermo-gravimetric analyzer (TGA) and conductometer to establish the structure and property relationship. These tri-composite films showed high tensile strength, modulus, thermal stability and electrical conductivity. |
