Preparation of Stimuli-responsive Composite Particles for Li+ Recovery |

Composite microspheres with absorption desorption functionalities based on organic supramolecular host-guest complexation of crown ether receptors in methacryloyloxymethyl-12-crown-4 (M12C4) for lithium complexes and thermo-sensitivity based on volume phase transition of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) is fabricated by free-radical precipitation copolymerization. Material composition was confirmed by FT-IR and 1H-NMR analysis. The composite and core/shell morphology of P(NIPAAm-co-M12C4) microspheres was confirmed by TEM analysis. Temperature dependence on hydrodynamic diameter of microspheres was measured by DLS. Absorption and desorption studies were quantitatively performed by ICP study. Absorbent recovery was also performed by permanent magnet after lithium ion absorption and desorption process with 95% selectivity. |
