This study was examined the combustion properties of wood specimen for the constructional interiors, especially focusing on heat hazard characteristics. Heat release characteristics were measured by using a cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1). The external heat flux was maintained at 50 kW/m2. Silicone sols were synthesized using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and sodium silicate. The heat hazard were measured by varying the concentrations of the two compounds. The concentration of amino silane was adjusted to 0.6, 1.2 and 2.4 times for sodium silicate. The measured HRRmean after burning ranged from 46.25 to 52.76 kW/m2, which was increased by 1.8% to 16% from 45.44 kW/m2 of cypress. The total heat release was obtained from 83.27 to 90.70 MJ/kg and observed by 1.6% to 10.6% higher than 81.98 MJ/kg of cypress. Silicone flame retardants have been shown to increase head hazards. |
