Fine particle of acetaminophen was formed by the ASES process which uses supercritical carbon dioxide as an anti-solvent. Experiments have been conducted at various temperatures, pressures, solvents, solution concentrations and solution feed volume rates. In each case, the experiments investigated the particle property of matter. The particle sizes and morphologies were analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer (Sympatec HELOS LD). The chemical composition was analyzed by FT-IR (Bruker IFS 120 spectrometer) and the crystal morphology was analyzed by Powder X-Ray Diffractometry (Bruker D5005). The result shows that the average particle size has been measured to be 3-4㎛, which was about 1/20 of pure acetaminophen. The irregular and acicular morphology has been changed to be regular, the broad particle size distribution range has been changed from 193.4㎛ to 8.27㎛. |
