제목 Plasma hydrophobic treatment of glass surfaces with tetramethylsilane in a plate-to-plate double dielectric barrier discharge reactor
초록 The plasma hydrophobic treatment of glass surfaces using tetramethylsilane (TMS) as the coating precursor in a plate-to-plate double dielectric plasma reactor was studied in this work. Various operating parameters including applied voltage, argon flow rate, TMS concentration and treatment time were varied to investigate the response of the coatings for water repellence. It was found that the water contact angle (WCA) gradually increased with increasing the applied voltage up to 16 kV and then leveled off. Similar trend was observed as varying the precursor concentration. Meanwhile, at the same applied voltage and TMS feeding, the rising the argon carrying gas (from 1.0 L min-1) had a minor effect on the resulting WCA. The time dependence study showed that the sample surfaces had a quick response to plasma treatment as their water repellence characteristic changed from hydrophilicity to hydrophobicity after 5 sec of treatment. A WCA of 103o was the highest value obtained in this work.
