제목 In Vitro Generated Extracellular Matrix as a Surface Modification on Different Bone Tissue Scaffolds
초록 Numerous studies have been done regarding the development of surface modified biomaterials for tissue regeneration. These investigations have paved the way for clinical application of purely synthetic implantable materials. However the novelty of this approach is nearing its exhaustion due to extensive research which does not always translate towards actual medical application. The current trend towards the in depth examination of the extracellular matrix (ECM) as a viable biomaterial is a very interesting approach toward the development and modification of the next generation of implantable materials and potentially whole organs. This study mainly aims to investigate how the material type affects the in vitro generated ECM. Three different materials have been prepared: polymer (polycaprolactone), bi-phasic calcium phosphate (BCP), and metal (titanium wire).  Pre-osteoblast cells (MC3T3-E1) were seeded at high density on each scaffold type and cultured for 1-3 weeks. The biosynthetic construct was decellularized and characterized using SEM, confocal microscopy and collagen quantification. Bone marrow stem cells (BMSC) was used to determine if the resulting biosynthetic construct is able to support living cells and promote tissue regeneration.
