Due to the utilization of sunlight only, photocatalysis have been considered environmentally friendly. In the real effluent treatment process, fast degradation of organics is necessary. Of course, TiO2 showed very high reactivity toward any organic pollutants in the water, but initial photocatalytic activity should be improved by further material modifications. Among various kinds of material modification methods, assistance of amorphous WOx enhanced a great electron-hole transfer of TiO2, when WOx were impregnated in pores. Type II heterojunction between WOx and TiO2 allowed fast charge separation. Thus, WOx-TiO2 composite would be effective heterostructured materials for photocatalysis in the early reaction stage. In this study, amorphous WOx was promoted (or impregnated) on mesoporous TiO2 via incipient wetness-impregnation method, and annealed at different temperatures up to 700 oC. Photocatalytic activities were evaluated using 254 nm lamp and rhodamine B. |
