It is well-known that CNTs have outstanding mechanical and electrical properties, which provide potential in nanotechnology and electronic nanodevices. Recently, polymer/CNTs composites have attracted considerable attention because the individual properties of the two components can be combined to give novel hybrid nanomaterials with good mechanical strength, unique multifunctional properties, and excellent processability. In this study, polypropylene maleic anhydride (PP-MAH) was reacted with ethanolamine to produce polypropylene containing a hydroxyl group (PP-OH). MWNT-COOH was treated with 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide and converted to a MWNT having 2-bromoisobutyryl group (MWNT-Br). The hybrid nanocomposites of MWNT-Br and PP-OH were produced using a triethylamine as a catalyst in toluene at 105 ℃. The composition, structure, and morphology of the hybrid nanocomposites were studied by SEM, TGA, DSC, FT-IR, and Raman. |
