제목 | Effect of Crystal Structure on the Mechanical Properties of Nylon Nanocomposites |
초록 | The effect of crystal structures on the mechanical properties of nylon 66 nanocomposite was ewxamined. Small amount(0.01wt%) of nanoclay, exfoliated graphite and carbon black were used for the control of crystal size, and the reinforcing effect of the filler was ignored . The crystal size of nylon 66 with various filler was measured through optical microscopy and image analysis. Crystallinity, fracture toughness, tensile/flexural properties and izod impact strength of nylon 66 nanocomposites with different crystal size were measured. The crystal size was decreased with smaller fillers. Crystallinity, fracture toughness and impact strength were not influenced by the change of crystal size. However, tensile and flexural properties were improved with decreasing crystal size. Incorporation of small amount of nanoparticles to nylon 66 result in improvement of tensile and flexural properties without changing crystallinity. |
