PDT is increasingly recognized as a promising treatment for a variety of oncological, cardiovascular, dermatological, and ophthalmic diseases. Compared to current treatments, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, PDT is an effective and selective method of destroying diseased tissue without damaging surrounding healthy tissues. In addition, PTT has attracted considerable interests due to their biocompatibility, optical property, and photothermal effects. We designed the AuNR-photosensitizer conjugates with glutathione-sensitive linkages. A series of AuNRs with different aspect ratio were prepared by seeded growth method. Then, ligand-conjugated block copolymers were employed to modify the AuNRs. The physicochemical properties, singlet oxygen generation, and photothermal activities of the AuNRs-based system were evaluated. In vitro cellular localization and phototoxicity of AuNR-photosensitizer conjugates were also investigated. |
