PDT has widely known as a promising treatment for its application in cancer therapy. Unlike other typical treatments, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, PDT is an effective and selective method of destroying diseased tissue with minimal toxicity surrounding healthy tissues. In addition, Near infrared PTT using gold nanoparticle is becoming as a powerful cancer treatment, leaving normal cells unharmed. In this study, we reported the preparation and characterization of the AuNR-photosensitizer conjugates with glutathione-sensitive linkages. A series of AuNRs with different aspect ratio were prepared by seeded growth method. Then, block copolymers including folate groups for targeting were employed to modify the AuNRs. The physicochemical properties, singlet oxygen generation, drug release and photothermal effect of the AuNRs-based system were investigated. In vitro cellular localization and cell viability of glutathione-responsive bioconjugates were also evaluated. |
