Catechol conjugated chitosan (CCs) matrices were fabricated via chemical reaction in this work. CCs were coated on the surface of sodium alginate and carboxymethylcellulose matrix by a specific amount. Meanwhile, the mechanical properties, cytotoxicity, and hemostatic ability of CCs derivatives were investigated. The results show that both degree of catechol substitution and pH could affect the mechanical properties of CCs derivatives. Additionally, cytotoxicity was investigated to evaluate the biocompatibility of CCs derivatives. The results show that both CCs derivatives have good cell viability and hemolytic properties. The hemostatic evaluation also indicated that matrix based CCs derivatives had a good hemostatic efficacy. |
