Hyperbranched polymers have received attention because of their unique properties and three-dimensional shape. Especially, hyperbranched polyamidoamine(PAMAM) which possess functional nitrogen and amide groups can bind and separate heavy metal ions in aqueous solution. In this study, we developed a process to fabricate 100~300μm porous PAMAM particles by using silica particles. These porous particles were prepared via inverse suspension polymerization with N,N’-methylene bisacrylamide, ethylenediamine and silica particles. The silica particles were then removed by hydrofluoric acid to produce porous particles. SEM images showed many small pores in PAMAM particles. Detailed synthesis and characterization of the particles and their and metal ion absorption behavior will be presented. |
