A polymer nanocomposite is a combination of a polymer matrix and inorganic filler having dimensions in the nanometer size range. The enhancement of properties without sacrificing impact strength, toughness, and clarity makes nanocomposites most interesting and important replacements over traditional materials. As an engineering plastic, polyketone(PK) resin displayed balance of toughness, stiffness, chemical resistance, and ease of processing. That makes high prospects of several applications. In this study, PK/clay nanocomposites were prepared by the melt intercalation technique. We investigate how hydrophobicity of clay affect on filler dispersion of PK/ clay nanocomposite. Our experiment includes the role of heat stabilizers for PK and effect of heat stabilizers on clay dispersion in PK/clay nanocomposites. |
