제목 Studies on the mechanical properties for epoxy resin/Aminosilane functionalized MMT nanocomposites
초록 In this work, epoxy nanocomposites filled with aminosilane functionalized montmorillonite clay (MMT) have been prepared. For comparison purpose, pure MMT and commercially available nanoclay (Cloisite 15A) have also been used in preparing epoxy nanocomposites. X-ray diffraction studies of pure and functionalized clay reveal the intercalation of epoxy resin between the clay platelets. The influence of nanoclay’s on the mechanical properties like tensile strength and modulus of the epoxy resin have been determined. The dispersion of nanoclay in epoxy resin matrix and its influence on thermal expansion coefficient has been also determined using dynamic mechanical analysis. On the other hand, it is very interesting to observe a good correlation between the interfacial interaction and mechanical properties, suggesting that the dispersion states of silanized MMT and interfacial property between clay layers and matrix played an important role in determining the mechanical properties.
