제목 Comparison of Interfacial Evaluation of Carbon and Glass Fiber/Epoxy Compositesusing Micromechanical Technique at Low Temperature
초록 As a preliminary study of the optimum composite properties under cryogenic temperature, the comparison of inherent and interfacial properties of carbon or glass fibers reinforced epoxy composites were evaluated at room and low temperatures using micromechanical technique. Bimodal statistical distribution of tensile strengths of glass and carbon fibers were compared for different temperature ranges. Under tensile and compressive loading conditions, mechanical modulus of epoxy resin at low temperature was higher than those at room temperature. Interfacial shear strength between fibers and low temperature-epoxy matrix at low temperature was much higher than that at room temperature, depending on toughness and modulus of epoxy matrix itself.
