제목 | Improvement deionization performance of ACP electrode using a sulfonated titania layer |
초록 | Membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) have been gained much attention as a potential desalination process. It is also applicable to remove ionic pollutants or to produce high-purity water. In this work, a porouos titania layer was studied as a ion-selective membrane like ion-exchange membrane. To do this, the surface of titania nanoparticles were grafted with Tiron having sulfonic groups. With changing the mole ratio of Tiron to titania, the ionic exchange capacity was optimized. The sulfonated titania particles were coated on a ACP carbon electrode, and its desalination performance was evaluated with changing the preparation condition of the porous titania layer. It was found that the introduction of a sulfonated titania layer on the ACP electrode effectively improves the desalination performance without using ion-exchange membranes.
