In this work, we have prepared porous carbons as adsorbents by using KOH activation of ketjenblacks (KB) to improve hydrogen storage capacity. The structural and morphological properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The textural properties were investigated by N2/77 K adsorption isotherms using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation. The meso and micropore size distributions were calculated by the Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) equation and Horvath–Kawazoe (HK) method, respectively. The hydrogen storage capacities were analyzed at 77 K/1 bar. It was found that the hydrogen storage behaviors were greatly enhanced by chemical activation that increases specific surface area of the prepared samples. |
