Here, the low band-gap materials based on benzothiadiazole and thiophene (BT4Ts) were newly synthesized and the general properties of the oligomers including their thermal, electrochemical, and optical properties are investigated. We introduced new low band-gap materials into the polymer photovoltaic cells as an additive to provide a simple method for improving the properties of the active layers. The effect of BT4Ts on the photovoltaic properties of P3HT:PCBM films were systematically investigated by UV-vis absorption spectra and thin-film morphology studies using the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscope (AFM) analyses. |
