Synthesis and characterization of SiO2-graft-poly(methylmethacrylate-co-allylmethacrylate) nanocomposites prepared by combination of ARGET ATRP and thiol-ene click chemistry |

In this study, SiO2-graft-poly(methylmethacrylate-co-allylmethacrylate) nanocomposite was synthesized by taking advantages of robust ARGET ATRP with ppm level of catalyst and thiol-ene click chemistry. The silica nanospheres was prepared by modification of Stober method and followed by the treatment with 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane to introduce the clickable functional group onto silica surface. Meanwhile, the random copolymerization of methylmethacrylate and allylmethacrylate was carried out under mild condition by using ARGET ATRP process. Subsequently, the polymer chains with “ene” pendants were covalently attached onto silica surface by the thiol-ene radical addition. Upon the modification, the nanocomposites exhibited the dramatically change on the surface properties which was demonstrated by dispersion experiment. |
