Preparation and Properties of PAN/HAp composite fibers for Removal of lead ions through fixed bed column |

Composite sorbents of poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) and hydroxyapatite (HAp) for removal of heavy metals from industrial and agricultural wastewater has been investigated. PAN/HAp composite fibers were prepared by hydrate melt spinning process from PAN/HAp/Water compound. The composite fibers showed highly porous structure with more than 80% porosity. Sorption capacity of composite fiber was evaluated by continuous sorption test, because the sorbent uptake capacity is more efficiently used than in completely mixed systems. It was found that sorption of lead ions was defined by EDS and XRD.
